[ Likewise, the deluge of messages across his own screen is no less than a huge relief, and Akira lets out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. (He'd found a handful of the other thieves before, but their numbers had been so few. Startlingly so.)
And Ryuji... Well, what can he say? He was his first real friend in Tokyo, and is certainly his best. ]
You're making me blush.
[ (yea no Akira's a piece of shit)
(but he's having a lot of Emotions inside ok...............) ]
[He's in a panic, trying to remember how to get back up to the station. He's here. He's back and Ryuji is still--
...
Oh right.]
hang on and shut up, im gonna punch you for taking so long!
[Only not really because he's just so happy to know that Akira is back. No more days of him looking for his pod or sitting outside it, wondering when his friend would wake up again. Nope, now they were going to be reunited.
Just as soon as Ryuji could concentrate enough to teleport back up to the space station. God it was so hard to concentrate.]
[ (He does realize he probably deserves it—if Ryuji had been awake all this time, he can only imagine how sick with worry he and the others had been...)
...There's a small pause on his end as he mulls over his answer. Having had to give it once already, he's familiar with the sinking feeling of breaking bad news. ]
Leblanc.
... Sorry.
[ ...It's not as if he's been faulted for it, but it still feels as if he's letting his friends down. ]
[Even if that is...not so descriptive. Akira lived at Leblanc so there was no telling when or what he knew.
Did he know about Akechi? Was he from after Haru's dad? After learning about Shido? That's as far as Ryuji knew, but he hadn't really talked to any of them about it.]
listen, im coming up to you mkay? we can talk about it then don't go nowhere
[ It's... admittedly more difficult to explain over text than it ought to be. He'd rather tell him in person, and fortunately for him Ryuji's of the same mind. (It almost feels like being home again, ping-ponging messages with his classmate. In his memory it hasn't been that long between Tokyo and Thesa, but somehow he still feels like he's missed this.) ]
Yeah.
Can't leave, this spaceship's got your name on it.
[ ...That might not mean anything to Ryuji, if he hasn't heard the rest of the announcement yet, but Akira figures he'll arrive soon enough. ]
omg seriously? AWESOME we're gonna be fighter pilots! space fighter pilots! how rad is this???
[He can text and walk and run and teleport to Thesa and be excited about spaceships all at once, okay. He's a multi-talented boy and also a teenager, which gives him the innate ability to be attached to his phone 24/7.
When he finally manages the teleport up to the station, he's still checking messages as he runs around looking for the hangar and for Akira. He knows it's here somewhere; he just has to remember the place's layout.]
[ He's feeling that restless energy as well, foot tapping on the ground as he bides his time, flipping aimlessly through his phone in order to keep himself busy. (He's not even reading anything on the screen, just watching shapes move up and down behind the glass as he fidgets.)
He glances up when he hears a loud patter of footsteps burst into the hangar, spotting a shock of bleached blond hair as Ryuji zips around one of the ships in his frantic search. (He can't stop a grin from peeling away at the corners of his mouth.)
He whistles sharply to catch his attention. ]
Over here, big guy.
[ Once they're finally facing each other, he holds out his arms to Ryuji, completely stone-faced once more. (Are they gonna hug like real bros or whut.)
...Also he's bending slightly at the knees, trying to get his center of gravity locked and looking more like a defending linebacker than anything else. He's also preeeetty sure he's gonna get bowled over despite his efforts. ]
[It's good thing he's been running with Prompto since coming here. His stamina is getting better and he doesn't trip as often anymore. It comes in handy for moments like these - running around the station from top to bottom because he can't be arsed to look at the map.
He finds the hangar and starts running between the ships to see if he can spot that mop of untamed almost-fro, when he hears a sharp whistle and screeches to a halt. It takes him a moment to pinpoint, but hearing that voice is like a knife has been pulled out of his heart. His friend is back. He's back. If Akira can come back, then so can Ann and Makoto. So can so many other people, too.
He whips around and sees Akira with his arms out looking deadpan as always and can't help the grin that spreads across his face. Who cares how it looks to people? He launches himself at the other teen, trying his damned best to bowl him straight over to the ground. It's like his old sprinting days again and he crosses the hangar in record time, smashing into Akira at his top speed.]
Don't make it weird, man!
[Never mind that he's 1000% hugging him like there's no tomorrow.]
[ ...Yeah he is so screwed, he silently says a prayer for each one of his ribs as Ryuji comes barreling toward him. (There's barely enough time to squeeze in a blink before he's knocked flat, air escaping his lungs in a disgruntled wheeze.)
Of course it doesn't end there, whatever Ryuji hasn't violently rattled already is getting affectionately crushed in his jock arms. Akira does his best to hug back, though it's a little difficult with their arrangement—more like impossible to find leverage in this ridiculous tangle of limbs.
He ends up giving Ryuji something of a pat on both shoulders, sorryhecan'treallybreatherightnow. (Even so, he still manages to release a small huff of laughter. It's great to see him.) ]
[Ha, he knew he could do it. It's a jumble of gangly teen limbs, but after he feels the pat on his shoulders and the wheezing breath of "Uncle," he lets go and rolls off, laughing. Don't challenge him, Akira, he still has a competitive streak even if he isn't top of his game anymore.]
I can't believe you're back already? I mean, you just left and now you're here again.
[He blinks and waves his arms in front of him to dispel any bad inentions.]
Not that it's a bad thing! I just... [One hand travels up and runs through his recently rebleached hair.] ...Well, I'm just glad you're back, man.
[ He spends another good half-minute staring up at the ceiling, siphoning oxygen back into his body before he rolls his gaze toward Ryuji. (He might take the opportunity to launch a sneak attack, get his friend into a headlock and exact some revenge ala fierce noogie'ing... But he still feels like he's recovering from the flu, usual strength wiped after cold sleep.
(...'Back already', huh.) He sits up, nudging his glasses back into place. ]
...You sure it wasn't an extremely handsome look-alike.
[ (No.) ...He doesn't remember any of it from before, so he can't say he's happy to have woken up again to the post-apocalypse—though he understands and appreciates the sentiment. (How much more would it suck without any familiar faces to greet him? As awful as it is to have lost his home, he's lucky to have his friends.) ]
...Thanks. Glad you're here, too.
[ Feels a bit like his first day at Shujin all over again. ]
[A handsome lookalike...? Ryuji isn't sure how to feel about the idea that Akira doesn't remember anything at all about his time here. In a way, maybe it was a blessing. He wouldn't remember Ann or Makoto being here, he wouldn't know about the terrorist attack or the panic that ensued, he wouldn't remember the...awkwardness of the flu.
It was like starting over again, fresh and clear.
But it was also a lot of things that people that Akira wouldn't know or understand anymore. Ryuji frowned for the briefest second and then clapped Akira on the back, grinning wide.]
Maybe, but you think I wouldn't know my best friend when I saw him? We got a lot to catch up on, I guess. But first of all?
[He pushes up off the ground and dusts himself off before holding out a hand to pull Akira up.]
We get to go down to the planet in style, man. You won't believe what's in store.
